Carrels Family Dental Care offers patient-centered, professional dental care in a friendly, comfortable setting. The well-being of our patients is the focus of our dental services. For nearly sixty years, the people of Aberdeen and the surrounding region have confidently counted on a Dr. Carrels for their complete dental care.

Dr. John Carrels is known for his gentle approach and patience, and for his skill at performing a wide variety of dental procedures. His father -Dr. Donald Carrels- started a dental practice in Aberdeen in 1951, and Dr. John joined his father in 1989 and continued his own practice after his father retired in the year 2000. Dr. John Carrels continues his father’s tradition of dental professionalism and serving as a patient-oriented dentist.

At Carrels Family Dental Care it starts with our friendly, comfortable office. Our emphasis on patient care is evident when you first enter our inviting reception area and waiting room, with its comfortable furnishings, warming fireplace and a saltwater fish tank. Our staff is capable, caring and interested in you and your dental health. We also offer the latest in advanced and helpful dental technologies.

We welcome patients of all ages. Our office is handicap accessible.

Dr Carrels
Dr Carrels

Dr. John Carrels is a second generation dentist, an Aberdeen native, and he and his wife have three children. He has practiced dentistry in Aberdeen since graduating from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1989. His father, Dr. Donald Carrels, started a dental practice in Aberdeen in 1951.

Dr. John Carrels is committed to providing his patients with excellent dental care. He regularly attends advanced dental education programs and classes, continuing to build his knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Carrels is a sports enthusiast and local athletics booster, and has served as a youth basketball and soccer coach. He also enjoys bird-watching and spending time at the lake with his family and friends.

Dr Bain
Dr Bain

Dr. Mark Bain and his wife Caroline are Aberdeen natives and graduates of Aberdeen Roncalli High School. Dr. Bain received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota in 2002. He graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2006 and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency with the United States Air Force in 2007.

Dr. Bain returned home in 2009 to join the practice after completion of his service obligation in the United States Air Force as a general dentist. He held the rank of Captain and his assignments included being stationed at Offutt AFB, NE and Whiteman AFB, MO.

Dr. Bain enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His primary interests are sports and outdoor activities. He is actively involved in continuing education and committed to staying at the forefront of the dental profession.

Sheryl
Billing - Insurance
Sheryl, our certified billing and insurance specialist, has worked in the healthcare field for 12 years. She has been recognized as a “Certified Professional Coder” by the American Academy of Professional Coders.” In her leisure time, Sheryl enjoys gardening, golf and watching her son and daughter play hockey.
Cindy
Receptionist
Cindy is our front desk receptionist, and she served in the healthcare field for 25 years. During her career she was named employee of the year at a local medical-surgical clinic. Cindy is an avid decorator, both indoors and out, and she is also a registered medical assistant.
Laurie
Receptionist
Laurie is another one of our valuable receptionists, and she has worked in the medical field for nearly 15 years. Laurie has earned a Two-year Associate of Arts Degree from Northern State University. Crafts, scrap-booking and watching her son’s sports activities are her favorite hobbies.
Liz
Dental Assistant
Liz is certified as an Advanced Dental Assistant with nine years experience, all in our office. She’s a graduate of Lake Area Technical Institute. In her free time, Liz enjoys singing, bowling and crocheting.
Nikki
Dental Assistant
Nikki has worked in our office as a dental assistant since graduating from Lake Area Technical Institute. She is certified as an Advanced Dental Assistant, and her hobbies include listening to music, physical fitness, and teaching dance.
Emily
Dental Assistant
Emily joined our staff as a dental assistant. She is currently pursuing a degree in dietary science. She enjoys taking her dog for walks and scrapbooking.
Rochelle
Dental Hygienist
Rochelle has been a Registered Dental Hygienist in our office since graduating from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. She is also certified in administering local anesthesia. Her hobbies focus on outdoor activities.
Laura
Dental Hygienist
Laura, a Registered Dental Hygienist certified in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide, is a graduate of Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Moorhead, MN. She was a practicing dental hygienist in Omaha, NE before joining our team in 2008. Laura enjoys biking, running and other outdoor activities, and attending musical concerts.
Jacque
Dental Hygienist
Jacque is a Registered Dental Hygienist in our office. She graduated from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. She is certified in administering local anesthesia. Her hobbies include working out, traveling, and shopping.

All dental assistants and dental hygienists at Carrels Family Dental Care are certified as healthcare providers, including training in CPR.
